It has been brought to the attention of the club by Carlisle City Council that there has been an increase in athletes climbing security fences to enter The Sheepmount complex.
The area remains in danger of collapse around the carpark and river bank areas and the whole facility is contaminated with raw sewerage, as a result has been fenced off to protect the general public. There are danger and do not enter notices around the perimeter fencing advising of this. Failure to comply with this could result in you being prosecuted for trespassing. If you were to be injured while on the area, emergency vehicles would be delayed reaching you, and you would be held liable for any damage to the site or injury to yourself.
The coaches have worked extremely hard following the floods to continue to provide a speed session, and with the light nights we are now using Victoria Park. There is a loop around Victoria Park which is approximately 400m. As a result we would advise members to use this area and continue to train in safety.
I have been informed that driers have now been installed into The Sheepmount and it is the intention of Carlisle City Council to get at least part of the facilities open ASAP. There is also work at hopefully providing a grass track at one of the local schools in the interim. As we receive further updates, we will let you know.
